On the Saturday practice was marred by bad weather and an oil spill, but by the time North Yorkshire Fire Brigade had cleared the oil the weather had improved and Daley comfortably managed to qualify in the front row in both classes.
The first race of the day was the Junior A 600 and Daley quickly took the lead, which he maintained for three laps. On the fourth, Jamie Coward took the lead, and thus ensued an exciting and close-fought battle for first place. On the last lap the pair traded places three times and as they flew across the jumps Daley pulled off a daredevil manoeuvre in mid-air to regain the lead and finish the race ahead of his rival.
There was just enough time for the Open Solo as the night closed in and with conditions having improved through the afternoon Daley quickly put a gap between him and the rest of the pack; a lead he extended to a massive eight seconds. Relaxing a little into the eighth lap, Daley eased off the pace and finished the race, and the day, with 6.5 seconds to spare.
After a night of heavy rain, Sunday saw Daley contest the second leg of the Junior A 600. Drastic overnight changes to the machine’s suspension should have made Daley’s job a little easier than on the Saturday, but a heavy landing over the jumps on the fourth lap broke a fork seal and cost Daley his lead, but caused no lasting damage.
Undeterred, Daley took the Eddie Stobart-liveried BMW into the Senior race and finished first, 3.6 seconds ahead of the pack.
The second leg of the Senior was abandoned because of the long delays the previous day, so the last race of the weekend was the second leg of the Open. The BMW performed well and carried Daley into an early lead which he maintained to take the chequered flag 6.2 seconds ahead of the field.
Another solid weekend of racing in the books, and with yet more wins to add to their 2017 tally, Daley and the team now look forward to the Ulster Grand Prix.
